....a sweet, gentle evening....all quiet but with clouds performing all sorts of quick formations. Acrylic and pencil on matte board, gessoed both sides, 8 x 8 inches.

The lake at Haliburton. Last Sunday it rained for most of the day, clearing in the evening. I painted this in my cabin as soon as I arrived.

Yesterday while it was super hot, I wandered around in the the back acres. It's very dry again and everything was crunching underfoot. Some lovely clouds floating by....but nothing suggesting rain.....I dramatized what I saw here.

The day after a rain...much needed water for trees and crops, and very pleasant relief overall. Outside Peterborough, Ontario. Skies remain a large mystery.....I could paint them for years and not be done.

We waited patiently for rain and thought we would get some a few nights ago, but heavy clouds moved swiftly through, with corresponding dry lightning bursts. Everything moved through so quickly and there was no rain.  The formations were very odd afterwards....strange vertical clouds and little puffy clouds. Luckily, we had about 1/2 inch of heavy rain yesterday!

Temperatures cooled gradually after the heatwave, but there was no rain.....just lovely big clouds that roamed off into the distance.
