Far Flag and Snowy Hills



I stood on a table in the school studio to get a distant view eastward. The flag flies over the elementary school next door, with snowy hills beyond. I usually paint in daylight, but this was started at 6:30....dark already.

One of the moments that seemingly go unnoticed...like any moment of the day. A brilliant afternoon......a jettrail moving behind the cloud. Acrylic and pencil on archival paper, 11 x 15 inches.

On a beautiful Saturday morning I parked on a steep hill in Bewdley and looked down on the Rice Lake view to diagram this. The residents of a nearby house eyed me suspiciously, finding my behaviour unusual.

The day after a rain...much needed water for trees and crops, and very pleasant relief overall. Outside Peterborough, Ontario. Skies remain a large mystery.....I could paint them for years and not be done.
