First Hill, Near Lake Ontario

A few minutes of concentrated drawing engrains the memory, likely forever. I still remember fragments, smells, the quality of the air, surrounding sounds, when I look at drawings and paintings I made on location years ago. In this case, I parked in a little path leading to this field. A little thicket was to my left, with insects buzzing in it, the leaves already bright with autumn......the sunshine was warm on a peaceful mid afternoon in late September.

Acrylic on archival print paper, 11 x 15 inches.

The second of two paintings make from my hike on Power Line Road. Shown here is the access from the county road. Then you wander over high ridges, bush, fields....all on a narrow path next to the power lines. Acrylic on unprimed Arches, 6.75 x 9.75 inches.

Power Line Road

It's an interesting little road...just a path to allow service people access to the power lines. It goes up into some high country and you can see some unusual properties. ....walking in mid September....I made a few paintings from views on this path.

...a bright Saturday afternoon in late September. Collage in the first stages, followed by brushework. 6.5 x  8.75 inches. I wish I would do more collages. I'm making painted papers at a much quicker rate than I use them.

Victoria Webb reports

Victoria Webb reports on 3 Atlanta gallery openings.

Victoria Webb does a great job of reporting on a show I'm in at  Thomas Deans Fine Art  in Atlanta. Thank you, Victoria! She's included an excellent video....Donald Beal in his studio talking about his work and history. She then moves on to Mason Murer Fine Art, and Alan Avery.

Rain Promise Kept

After weeks of drought it was pure pleasure to have a full day of steady rain! I noted just a few colours and shapes from the motif and left almost everything else out.

Hillside Field, Late August

click here to view or buy new Stooshinoff works

A hillside field at the intersection of County Rd 28 and a county line. The field is always planted in this manner either to increase yield or to prevent erosion. It creates visual interest and I've painted it a few times. A fresh and beautiful Saturday morning....the last few days of holidays.

2 More Watercolor Monotypes

The treatment in the cloudscape is more transparent...paint the plate with one layer of reasonably thick watercolor, scratch through in places. The second image has more layers....let watercolor dry on the plate, overpaint, let dry, and print.
